Pain

Before the invention of modern anaesthetics, hypnosis was often used to put the paitent into a trance state so that surgury could be undertaken. In more recient years hypnotherapy has made a significant comeback in clinical practice, particularly in denistry.
Hypnotherapy can be used for pain control and pain management where traditional medication has failed. In hypnosis the person suffering from ongoing pain is taught how to alter their the brain’s perception of the pain message, and to turn down its intensity. They will be then taught self-hypnosis tequniques so that they can return to the hypnotic state at anytime so that they can continue to manage the pain.
